    A young man in Charleston, South Carolina once said to me, “You should paint the new Ravenel bridge and paint ghostly visions of the old Cooper bridges.”  With his suggestion in mind I decided to do it my way.  I sent the Construction Company executive of the new Ravenel bridge project a free print of “Sunrise over Miss Burdette.”  He was delighted and commissioned me to paint this very historical scene.  This painting of the three bridges is exactly the way it was for roughly 6-8 months.  When the new bridge was completed the old “Grace” and “Pearman” bridges were finally demolished.
